Hwa-Chong Info-communications Challenge 2026 Registration (Competition Training)

The Hwa Chong Infocomm Challenge (HCIC) 2026 is an annual Singapore coding competition organised by Hwa Chong Institution to inspire primary school students and recognise young programming, coding, and robotics talents while building essential computational and analytical thinking skills.

COMPETITION DETAILS

Primary 6 Students ONLY
Date of Competition: 21 May 2026
Focus of competition: Programming logic, Python programming language, robotics knowledge

Mode of Competition:
● HCIC will be conducted online in the afternoon
● Venue: The respective primary schools of the participating students

Only MOE schools can register their students for the competition. Empire Code will send a reminder to you to approach your school for the registration in advance.

Our Competition Training Program

Our goal is to prepare students for HCIC 2026 through intensive training in basic programming principles and coding logic, while strengthening their computational and analytical thinking skills to confidently solve competition-style questions. Students also develop a strong understanding of key robotics processes such as line-following, movement control, and obstacle avoidance, as well as essential physics concepts commonly tested in Singapore’s Hwa Chong Infocomm Challenge.

Pre-Requirements

For Empire Code Students:
● Complete Python Basics course
● Complete LEGO SPIKE Prime Level 1 course

For non-Empire Code Students:
● Students MUST have prior Python coding experience, and/or Robotics experience
● Attend our FREE 30-min assessment before undergoing HCIC training

Competition Training Details

Training Duration:
8 weeks starting the week of 22 March 2026 (20 hours in total)

Training Schedule:
(Choose one of the following options:)
Saturdays 9:00 – 11:30 am
Sundays 9:00 – 11:30 am
Sundays 1:00 – 3:30pm

Competition Training Fee: $800* without laptop rental

Competition Materials Fee (including an Empire Code T-shirt): $30
*Empire Code DSA students can apply their DSA Package towards this training.

Training will include past-year exam papers and Empire Code’s in-house mock papers to prepare students for the competition. Students are strongly encouraged to revise independently at home.
