1: What is the MIT Global AI Hackathon?
It’s a worldwide competition where students aged 8 to 16 use
MIT App Inventor to design and pitch innovative AI-powered apps.
2. Who can participate in FLL 2026 and what are the age categories in Singapore?
At Empire Code’s central Singapore campuses: Novena (next to Velocity@Novena Square, 5
minutes from Novena MRT) and River Valley (near UE Square and Robertson Quay).
3: Does my child need coding experience?
No. Our program is designed for beginners with no prior coding or robotics experience. For
advanced coders, we also offer higher-level training options.
4: How does this help with DSA applications in Singapore?
By completing and pitching an AI app project, your child builds portfolio-ready evidence in STEM,
Coding, Innovation, and InfoComm tracks – recognised by many Singapore secondary schools for
Direct School Admission (DSA).
5: Can my child join as an individual?
Yes. Individual students are welcome – we will group them into teams of 4-5 for the competition.
6: Can my child do a competition assessment before registering?
Yes. Parents can register for a free 30-minute MIT App Inventor trial session at our Novena or
River Valley campus. This allows us to assess your child’s readiness and recommend the most
suitable training pathway.
